About Uglubs Armoury

From scratch-building sprawling cityscapes to restoring vintage miniatures, from strategic deep-dives to casual dice-rolling fun — Uglub’s Armoury blends creativity, nostalgia, and storytelling into every project. Whether you're just getting started or you've been gaming for decades, there’s something here for everyone who loves the worlds we create and the battles we fight on the tabletop.

Terrain Building

Terrain is the foundation of everything we do in the Armoury. Not as decoration, but as the thing that shapes movement, decisions, and stories before the first dice are rolled.

We build tables and environments that feel lived in — cities with history, jungles that restrict vision and movement, installations that suggest function as well as conflict. Much of the terrain featured here is scratch-built, restored, or repurposed, often spanning decades of use.

The focus isn’t perfection or display pieces. It’s atmosphere, playability, and longevity. Terrain that invites exploration, creates meaningful choices, and rewards narrative thinking over optimisation.

Narrative Games & Campaigns

The Armoury is built around narrative play and linked campaigns, where games are connected by consequence rather than isolated by balance. Victories matter. Losses shape what happens next. The table remembers what came before.

Campaigns often span multiple scales — from skirmish actions to larger engagements — tied together by shared context and evolving situations. Rulesets are treated as tools rather than fixed laws, adapted where necessary to support story, decision-making, and common sense.

The goal is simple: games that are still being talked about long after the terrain has been packed away.

The Armoury focuses on three connected strands of the hobby...

A Documentary View of the Hobby

Alongside builds and games, UGLUB’S Armoury offers documentary-style commentary on tabletop wargaming — informed by many years of play and observation.

These pieces explore how the hobby has changed, what has been gained, and what has quietly been lost along the way. They’re not reviews or rants, but reflections grounded in real tables, real campaigns, and real experience.

It’s a long view of the hobby, shared to provide context rather than instruction — and to remind players that there are many valid ways to enjoy tabletop gaming.

The Armoury Ethos

Narrative matters. Terrain shapes play. Rules serve the table, not the other way around.

UGLUB’S Armoury isn’t about doing things the “correct” way. It’s about finding approaches that create better stories, better games, and more memorable time around the table.
